Football Season = Chips & Dip

FullSizeRender (4)

With football season (Go EAGLES!)  upon us we are all scrambling for something different to bring to the tailgate or the party. If you are like me, you want the food you bring to be the star of the day (and you also want your team to win!). Years ago, the hoagie dip recipe was given to me by a friend’s mother, and I have made it for every party since. People always leave wanting more, and usually I get a text or call asking for the recipe. So I have decided to put it out there for everyone to have. Your friends and family will thank me!

So this dip is basically everything you would find in an Italian Hoagie, minus the bread. I have served it with mini bruschetta toasts, but have found that thick sturdy kettle chip give it the salt factor that I feel the bread was missing. This dip is great because you can make a little or you can make a lot, and its even more delicious the next day!

Ingredients
Servings: QT
Instructions
  1. Chop all meats and cheeses roughly the same size and add to 4 QT bowl. If you have one that has a top, it will help minimize clean up!
  2. Chop tomatoes and add to bowl along with onions and 3/4 of the bag of lettuce. (If making for the next day, I have found that it is better to add the lettuce in the next day.
  3. Add the sub oil and mayo.
  4. Mix all ingredients, I recommend using your hands, but be sure to remove all jewelry beforehand.
  5. Taste, season with salt and pepper, and add more mayo or sub oil if needed.
  6. Top with remaining lettuce, cover and place in fridge.
Recipe Notes

This amount usually serves a large group of people. Feel free to edit the ingredient quantities! I had to play around with the numbers until I decided how I liked it best.

Let me know if you make any changes and how it turns out!

Enjoy, it goes quickly!! Can be made the night before, just give it a nice stir and maybe add a little mayo. Please let me know how you liked it in the comments.
